Playreading March/April

We all enjoyed reading "Charley's Aunt", the classic comedy, written by Brandon Thomas. This play is a farce in three acts, it broke all historic records for plays of any kind and was first performed at the Theatre Royal, London, in February, 1892.

The play we are currently reading is "The Circle" by Somerset Maugham. A critic has written – "What a splendid, thoroughly enjoyable play! Clever, witty, funny, pertinent and above all "Evergreen". Despite some of the language being outdated, Maugham's themes of love, marriage, infidelity, and abandonment are just as powerful today as they were when the play was written in 1921".

The above are samples of the many and varied plays which we have read. Right now we have a full complement of players, but you are most welcome to get in touch with Barbara if this group interests you.
