Pohutukawa Walk Stanmore Bay

This walk starts at Cooper Reserve off Cooper Road, which branches off Vipond Road. (Click on the map to enlarge.) A ramp leads down to the beach from the parking area, and the walk follows a line of overhanging pōhutukawa to the arty, almost magical garden near Joydon Place Reserve. (Optional extra is to walk up the path to Joydon Place, walk up a bit to the top of the magic garden. There is also a good view from Joydon Reserve.)

We then make our way back, admiring the ever-changing rock formations and the gnarled old pōhutukawa. You can leave your car in the reserve car park and walk up to the Sunrise Convenience Store or drive up the hill and park in the store's car park.
